PNCBRNC opened in 2001. Its development was born out of the emerging threat from Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear terrorism. This was a threat that first became evident at the time of the 1st gulf War, but was then seen as reality through the Sarin attacks in Tokyo in the late 1990’s. The opening of the Centre was advanced rapidly following the 9/11 attacks in the United States.
